چکیده

Abstract OBJECTIVE The role of surgery in recurrent GBM remains a controversial topic. goal this study was to perform case-control analysis including time tumor recurrence as an additional prognostic factor order determine which patients benefit most from repeat surgery. METHODS Our brain database reviewed over ten-year period for all adult (≥ 18 years old) with primary IDH wildtype that received disease. These were then age, sex, and treatment-matched case-controls our institution medical therapy RESULTS A total 174 included the study, 87 (surgery cohort) did not receive (non-surgery cohort). cohort had longer overall survival (p = 0.0003) post 0.001) than non-surgery cohort. When split into two groups based on recurrence, long group ( > 6 months) demonstrated significantly increased compared short < 0.0001). Multivariate both cohorts independently significant after adjusting KPS, CONCLUSIONS Surgery leads improved independent recurrence. Patients greater months

Biomechanical Modeling of Pterygium Radiation Surgery: A Retrospective Case Study

Pterygium is a vascularized, invasive transformation on the anterior corneal surface that can be treated by Strontium-/Yttrium90 beta irradiation. Finite element modeling was used to analyze the biomechanical effects governing the treatment, and to help understand clinically observed changes in corneal astigmatism. Results suggested that irradiation-induced pulling forces on the anterior cornea...

Predictors of unanticipated admission following ambulatory surgery in the pediatric population: a retrospective case-control study.

BACKGROUND Ambulatory surgery plays an important role in pediatric anesthesia. However, it is difficult to predict which patients will experience complications. Age >80, ASA class 3 or 4, duration of surgery >3 h, and BMI 30-35 are independent predictors of unanticipated admission in adults. In this study, we retrospectively evaluate risk factors for unanticipated admission, following ambulator...
